There may be a way that you can have a consistent stream of encouragement, direction and community as you continue playing the cello. But first, a story.

It was 8pm on a Wednesday evening, and adult cellist Natalie Bontumasi was getting in her daily cello practice. She was age 43, and had been playing cello for a few months and had been seeing some slow progress. Even though Natalie had expected that progress on the cello would be slower, tonight she felt defeated and when she made yet another note mistake, the thought passed through her mind, “maybe I am not cut out to play the cello.” She had originally started to encourage her son with his own cello lessons and to play with him, but she often feels defeated.

Maybe you have felt like this before, whether recently, or maybe even when you originally quit music lessons as a kid. Now fast forward just 1 years into her future, Natalie reads about a community orchestra that was looking for some adult, amateur cellists to join, and she thought, maybe if I have the encouragement of a community, that will be what keeps me going. She also decided, if this does not work, I will finally quit the cello. When that thought passed through her mind she realized how sad that would be, giving up on her dream.

So Natalie signs up for the orchestra and finds out how empowering it is to be surrounded by other adult students learning instruments, going through the same struggles, and ultimately growing together in confidence, grit and perseverance. She says

I loved the cello. The physicality of it, the resonance against my chest and under my fingers, the miracle of the sounding of the harmonics. Sympathetic vibrations gave me goosebumps.”

This is so possible for you too. And you don’t have to wait. You can experience this kind of beauty of sound NOW!

In the article on Natalie that was published in Strings Magazine, she is now in her 50’s having played the cello for over 10 years! She is still in the community orchestra and loves her daily practice sessions. She has achieved her vision of playing the cello for fun, relaxation and mental sharpness. And as Natalie looks back, she knows that being consistent + finding a community was what made the biggest difference. She knows that cello is a life long journey that will make you a better parent, be fulfilled, and ultimately improve the joy in your life!

That's the picture you want to see, isn't it?!

So in order to save time and see if Inner Voice Academy will work for you, can I ask you a few questions?

  1. What would it mean for you to have a community of cellists to keep you accountable?
  2. Do you struggle to be consistent on the cello?
  3. How would you feel if you were able to play your goal pieces with freedom?

If you resonated to these questions, that means that there IS a way that you can have consistent encouragement, confident direction on where to go next, AND be celebrated + supported along the way. Let’s look at the facts!
